For years I looked after everything except myself. By 35, corporate burnout caught up with me. My body sent a signal I couldn't ignore: my monthly cycle suddenly shortened to just two days. That was my wake-up call.

I didn't fix it with one big change. I fixed it with small things, done every day. Like watering a plant a little each morning instead of flooding it once a month. Here is what my day looks like now.

I start with gentle stretching, take my daily supplements, and make sure I meditate before I get busy. I'm sensitive to caffeine, so I keep tea to the morning. I move every day: a brisk walk, stretching, strength work, or dancing in the kitchen.

I love the hawker centre, and I don't give up chicken rice or mee siam. I picture a simple plate: half vegetables, a quarter protein, a quarter rice. I order teh o kosong, drink plenty of water, and add good things in rather than cutting everything out.

I do a 10-minute shutdown at the end of my day. It's like locking the front door at night. I write down what's in my head, list tomorrow's top three, close the laptop, tell myself "I did well," and breathe. And I always remember to take my daily supplements before sleep.

Sleep

Rest is part of the plan, not a reward. No caffeine after midday, lighter and earlier dinners, and no phone if I wake at night. But most nights, I sleep soundly right through.

My skin routine has five steps: a gentle cleanser, Renu gel, glow serum, moisturiser and daily sunscreen. With hot sun outside and cold aircon inside, simple, clean products work best for me.

Start small

You don't need to change everything tomorrow. Pick one:

  1. Take a 10-minute walk today.

  2. Order teh o kosong at your next meal out.

  3. Try the 10-minute shutdown at the end of your next workday.

Small steps, done often, add up. Aging well is not one big leap. It's many little ones.
